Mediate Ontario
“Audi alteram partem.”
"Listen to the other side."
I am a professional mediator, arbitrator, and conflict resolution specialist with over 15 years of experience in complex, high-stakes environments—including unionized workplaces, healthcare institutions, and emergency communications.

As the founder of Mediate Ontario, I bring not only formal training in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), but also lived experience navigating the realities of public service, organized labour, and identity-driven conflict. I’m proud to be a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and deeply committed to inclusive, equity-based practices that respect the diverse people and systems I serve.

Mediate Ontario - Professional Mediation and Arbitration Services
My career began on the frontlines—coordinating 911 dispatch services, working within large public-sector unions, and holding leadership roles in hospital and government operations.
These experiences immersed me in environments where decisions carried high stakes, emotions ran strong, and clear communication was critical. Over the years, I’ve represented workers in grievances, advised management through complex workplace challenges, and facilitated collective problem-solving from both sides of the labour table.

This dual perspective gives me a rare advantage as a mediator and arbitrator. I don’t approach disputes from a purely academic standpoint; I draw on lived experience in unionized workplaces, healthcare settings, and public service. I understand the pressures on both employees and employers, and I know how policies and collective agreements play out in practice, not just on paper. That real-world grounding shapes a mediation practice that is pragmatic, fair, and focused on workable outcomes that both sides can accept and build upon.
Prior Mediation Work:
My prior mediation work has focused on resolving complex disputes across unionized workplaces, healthcare organizations, and public sector environments. I have facilitated grievance mediations between unions and employers, helping parties reach timely, cost-effective solutions that avoid prolonged arbitration. I have also appeared before the Ontario Grievance Settlement Board and worked with both management and labour representatives to address contentious workplace issues, including discipline, scheduling, and collective agreement interpretation.
Beyond the labour sector, my mediation practice extends to civil and employment matters such as wrongful dismissal, contract disputes, and discrimination claims. I have successfully guided parties through human rights disputes involving accommodation and identity, as well as interpersonal conflicts tied to bullying, harassment, and toxic workplace culture. My approach emphasizes fairness, confidentiality, and practical outcomes that allow individuals and organizations to move forward.

I also bring specialized experience in administrative and tribunal contexts, including pre-hearing mediation and facilitated dialogue in equity-driven organizational change processes. In high-pressure environments like healthcare and emergency services, I have supported conflict de-escalation and structured conversations that balance operational needs with human concerns. This breadth of experience enables me to adapt to the unique dynamics of each case while maintaining a steady focus on resolution and long-term stability.

Through this work, I have developed a reputation for being both pragmatic and impartial, with an ability to cut through entrenched positions and keep discussions solution-focused. My background in emergency telecommunications and union leadership provides me with a strong understanding of organizational dynamics under pressure. Whether mediating between large institutions or individuals navigating personal workplace challenges, I bring patience, persistence, and a commitment to fairness. Clients value my ability to create a respectful environment where difficult conversations can take place productively. Above all, my goal is to ensure that disputes are resolved in a manner that preserves relationships while protecting the interests of all parties involved.
“A successful mediation isn’t about winning or losing — it’s about reaching an outcome both sides can live with and move forward from.”
